University of Victoria: Student Music Educators Association

The University of Victoria Student Music Educators’ Association is the Course Union for all Music Education students at UVic. It is also the only student chapter of the BC Music Educators’ Association (BCMEA).

The UVSMEA prides itself on being a welcoming, inclusive community of passionate and devoted students. We are dedicated to improvement and excellence, and seek to support and motivate future educators in a positive environment.

Members of the UVSMEA plan, promote, and participate in many events throughout the year in order to build knowledge and experience. Some of these events include the BCMEA conference in Richmond, BC; the Bandfest Band and Orchestra festival; and the UVSMEA’s own Music Discoveries Day Camp, as well as many expert clinicians throughout the year.

This school year, we are focusing on building connections within the UVSMEA and in our community and learning lots! We are hosting top music educators from all over North America in our virtual masterclass series, as well as offering a space for members to unwind and have fun during the school year.
